China's remarkable achievements: patent leadership and industry rise

China has made remarkable achievements in the development of the humanoid robot industry and has attracted global attention. According to the data of "Humanoid Robots 100: Mapping the Value Chain of Humanoid Robots" released by Morgan Stanley, in the past five years, the number of patent applications related to humanoid robots in mainland China has ranked first in the world, as many as 5,688; the number of applications in the United States, Japan, and the World Intellectual Property Organization has also exceeded 1,000, 1,483, 1,195, and 1,123 respectively. The report also shows that among the 100 listed companies involved in the manufacture of humanoid robots, 73% are located in Asia, and China alone accounts for 56%. Morgan Stanley's research report pointed out that China's start-ups benefit from mature supply chains, rich local market application opportunities and strong support from the country.

From the perspective of regional development, my country has formed a number of distinctive industrial clusters. As one of the important robot industry highlands in my country, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has clear supporting policies and close regional exchanges, forming an industrial chain model of complementary advantages and coordinated development. Most companies adopt the operation mode of research and development in Beijing, production and landing in Tianjin and Hebei. The Yangtze River Delta region has industry leading companies in the upstream core component manufacturing and midstream robot body manufacturing segments of robots, and the downstream robot application market is vast. There are also regional innovation platforms such as the Yangtze River Delta Artificial Intelligence and Robot Industry Service Innovation Platform and the Humanoid Robot Alliance. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is an important gathering area for the global humanoid robot supply chain. It is relatively advanced in control and servo system technology, and the industrial financial atmosphere is active, forming an industrial pattern with Shenzhen as the core and Guangzhou, Foshan and Dongguan as the main development forces. Judging from the provincial/municipal distribution of invention patent applications, my country's humanoid robot invention patent applications are mainly concentrated in Guangdong, Beijing and Shanghai, ranking the top three with 893, 892 and 614 applications respectively.
